AICPA Partners with IASeminars to Offer Training Courses on International Accounting Standards

June 30, 2008
New York

The AICPA has teamed up with IASeminars, a leading global provider of training courses on International Financial Reporting Standards, to offer CPAs and other financial professionals a comprehensive range of IFRS training solutions.

“It is becoming increasingly clear that CPAs in the U.S. will need to understand and learn how to apply international accounting standards over the next few years," said Arleen Thomas, AICPA senior vice president for member competency and development. “The AICPA is providing our members with access to the best information and training available in the world,”

“We are proud to be working with the AICPA to provide CPA’s and other professionals with the optimal solution to their worldwide IFRS training requirements,” said IASeminars CEO Marc Gardiner. “The experience we gained when Europe adopted IFRS in 2005 will be invaluable to those approaching the subject for the first time.”

The new partnership adds to the AICPA’s “Elite Values” portfolio of member benefits managed by CPA2Biz, the AICPA’s marketing and technology subsidiary.

IASeminars offers a comprehensive catalogue of more than 100 international accounting courses available in 30 cities around the world including U.S. locations in Atlanta, Chicago, Denver, Houston, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Miami, New York and Seattle.  Some of the more popular IASeminars courses include:

  • IFRS Overview with US GAAP Comparison (3-day course) - A step-by-step overview of the technical issues involved in applying IFRS, and the critical differences between IFRS and US GAAP
  • IFRS Immersion (4-day course) - Provides a detailed guide through the technical issues involved in producing IFRS financial statements
  • Comparison of US GAAP with IFRS (2-day course) - Provides an in-depth review and illustration of the critical differences between US GAAP and IFRS

“The AICPA is very pleased to be able to partner with IASeminars, which is already providing high-quality training courses internationally and in the U.S.  This arrangement gives us a big head start,” Thomas said.

The American Institute of Certified Public Accountants announced the introduction on May 15 of IFRS.com, a new Web site developed in partnership with CPA2Biz to help members and other financial professionals learn about and stay informed on IFRS.
